suedephotography asked: Missed my chance to cop your book, but just wanted to say congrats my man! Been following your blog for a minute, and your work really has been an inspiration to me. Looking forward to your future projects.. - Kevin (wesawithappen).
thanks for the support. i have a special place for my long time tumblr followers. i’ve grown and shared a lot on this platform and people have supported me beyond belief. i’ve shared stories of moving to ny in the summer of 2011 with $60 and a bunch of dreams. plenty of long nights and a lot of not knowing. i think the best part of it all is that im still just getting started. i’m looking forward to my future projects too! thanks for being apart of this journey, the best is yet to come
larkarch asked: Man I missed out on Black Boys! I don't know if you're going to print anymore but I'll definitely be on the look out for your next project. one love
you did miss out brother! but i’m more inspired today than I ever have been. more work, better work is to come. believe that. much love
appreciate your support
serophtheghoust asked: No seriously, I wish I could be as free and expressive as you are. You clearly who you are and you know where the core of personhood lies. I personally have some self-hate issues, and right now I feel like I'm grasping air instead of tree roots to keep myself from being sucked into being something I don't wanna be. Keep up the good work and keep being expressive. Never lose site of who you are.
hey im glad you enjoy the work. my 365 self-portrait project has forced me to focus on who i am every single day, i think thats what i like about it. the hardest part is realizing, and it seems as if you got that part because something is tugging you at the core. now understanding how to be true to that is something only you can answer. i believe you have tree roots and with time they will run deep. keep going bro
Anonymous asked: By the way, your semi-nudes are all tastefully done and highlight the beauty of the black male body. I appreciate the focus on photographic skill, rather than the subject matter. Have you ever thought of posting a full-nude?
i don’t really think much about the post.. i try not to think, really. it isn’t my goal to just be nude, but to get to an unknown place and grow. or to just get to an unknown place
blackantithesis asked: just wanted to let you know that I've been motivated by your 365-series, especially the photo of you and who I presume to be your parents. all these things said, I'm curious to know what inspired you to create it, and how the process has affected you overall. Positively, Introspectively, etc?
that is a photo of my parents and I, definitely one of my favorites from the project so far. the inspiration really came from a natural instinct. that weekend my parents had came to visit me in bk and i usually take pictures when they are around. i think my goal of the photo was to connect with them in a very raw manner, like i used to as a child. when i decided to take off my clothes there was an acceptance that gave me power. at that moment they understood my language and im forever grateful for that.
